Zhichao Xu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of McGovern Medical School, University of Texas Health Houston. He received his BS in Biology from Peking University and PhD from Tsinghua University. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies.
Zhichao has a longstanding interest in functional genomics as how genome sequences are translated into cellular functions, especially through 3D genome structures. His current focus is finding the correlation between 3D chromatin architecture, somatic mutations, and gene regulations in cancer.
Outside the lab, he likes traveling to different places and cooking new dishes for his friends and family. He looks forward to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering an inclusive and innovative environment. By leading the team with a shared vision, he aims to drive new discoveries in the field of genetics.
